The Glasgow Name Server is an experimental tool for finding taxonomic names.

Try the Taxonomic Search Engine, which searches 5 databases on the fly.

To get a feel for what it does, click on "Find a name" (left), enter a taxonomic name (animals only at present), then click on the "Classification" link to get a rank of options for displaying classifications.
