You can use these bookmarklets to quickly check a name. Bookmarklets are buttons on your browser toolbar. If you are viewing a web page and want to check on a taxonomic name, simply highlight the name and click on the button. If you click on the button without selecting any text, you will be prompted to enter a taxonomic name.

The idea is borrowed from the DOI Resolver Button. I used Jon Hicks' code to get it to work for Safari.

Icons

To replace the Microsoft Internet Explorer default icon with a ITIS icon right click on this image and save it on your hard disk as itis.ico. Then right click on the ITIS button on your Links bar, and select Properties. In the properties dialog box you can change the icon to itis.ico
